Before We Go...
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
- Read Psalm 46
- God is our refuge - He protects us; He gives us rest because He is our security
- God is our strength - He gives the strength to move forward and He gives the strength to wait
- Rest....protection....strength....In what areas of my life do I need this the most? What am I holding on to? What am I allowing to zap my strength instead of relying on God's strength? What makes me scared?
- Thank God for all the times he has protected me, He has given me strength, He has given contentment and rest.
- How does God's protection and strength make my life different today?
- Pray for each of us as we work out details of being gone & for the people in our lives that we leave
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Friday - STRENGTH
Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Isaiah 33:2 O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Using your first thoughts, how would you describe a woman living by God’s strength?
What examples of being a strong woman of God come to mind - Biblical or otherwise? Don’t forget about times in your own life has been a testimony of God’s strength in action!
Do you see any common characteristics? Think about transferable principles, not just specific circumstances or actions.
God was certainly working as He freed the Israelites from slavery. Yet in Exodus 5, they are crying out because they were not only still enslaved, but now they are ordered to make bricks without straw. So out they go to collect the straw. Even Moses wonders why he was even sent by God to return the Egypt.
How in those times when “you shall by no means reduce your number of bricks, your daily tasks each day” are you living by God’s strength? What is your response internally and then how does that direct your words and actions? What are your bricks – Physical tasks? Concerns of the heart? Unknowns? Concerns of health?
God showed David many blessings. In II Samuel 11, we learn that even amidst his time of relative ease, David needed to rely on God’s strength. He wasn’t satisfied. He wasn’t content. Contentment has less to do with circumstances around us than the condition of our heart. How does contentment relate to God as our refuge and strength?
